Iron mode and survival mode
Two optional ways to play, chosen at character creation, each with badges at 30, 50 and 70.
Both are ticked on the character creation screen, together or alone.
Iron mode
An iron mode character keeps only what it earns itself: it cannot trade with other players, cannot pick up an item another player dropped or a monster dropped for another player, and cannot use the auction house. Leaving it is the quest Breaking Chaines at the Ironguard Tent in Josand (Kael Ironbreaker, since 0.4.47), and it is one way: once the vow is broken there is no path back.
Survival mode
A survival character is undefeated as long as no monster has killed it. Nothing is lost on a death but the status: a defeated character keeps its items and its levels and is no longer in survival mode. From level 30 the undefeated status is public: reaching it is announced to everyone, and so is losing it. A defeat during a game-wide disruption is reversed: the status comes off at once, and if the defeat turns out to have happened during a general outage it is undone (0.4.40).
The badges
| Level | Iron mode | Survival |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | ironmode (bronze) | undefeated (bronze) |
| 50 | ironmode+ (silver) | undefeated+ (silver) |
| 70 | ironmode legend (gold) | undefeated legend (gold) |
The badge shows on the paperdoll and is kept only while the mode is.

Ironmode Rules , 0.4.38
When creating a new character , players will have the option to enable Ironmode. Once enabled, the following restrictions apply:
Item Pickup Restrictions: Ironmode players can only pick up items they have personally earned. This means they cannot collect items dropped by NPCs if those items are assigned to other players, nor can they pick up any items dropped by other players.
No Trading: Ironmode players cannot trade with other players, and other players cannot trade with them. This ensures a fully independent progression experience.

Level 70: Golden Ironmode Badge , 0.4.38
These badges serve as visible proof of a players commitment to the Ironmode challenge. Ironmode is designed for those who enjoy self-reliance and a more controlled gameplay experience. It will be interesting to see how players engage with this new feature.
