Event

The seasonal invasions, and the items that only exist during one.

The current public events, their drops and event coins are on the events page; this page is the history.

The game runs seasonal events, Halloween and Christmas so far, and each one changes a town, adds monsters, and puts items in the game that can be had only while it lasts.

How they have worked

  • An invasion arrives. Hitting the event monsters, and the boss, earns participation.
  • Participation becomes a ticket, which lands in your gift box.
  • The ticket is exchanged with an event NPC for a chance at the exclusive items.
  • Event currencies, candies, presents, are traded or crafted into the rest.

Past events have added a fishing chain for Santa’s lost presents, a candy wizard who trades the Halloween items, and two dozen craftable Christmas presents. Event items may or may not return in a later year.

From the update notes

What the developer wrote when this was added or changed, newest first.

Instancer , 0.4.57

This is a critical missing part of the current game that tie the channel system, the gate system, and everything in between together. Getting this right will enable dungeons, special created guild event maps, private instances, shadow channels and more. It is definitely not the easiest system to tackle, so fingers crossed. ..more details soon

Project Aeven , 0.4.56

  • Event SpawnNpc() (Faya and Ratcatcher) despawn issues fixed
  • Catch requirements for Fireflies event lowered with 50%

Wayfarer Update , 0.4.55

Patch 4.55 brings a fully functional new fast travel system and rolls out DMS (Dynamic Map States) opening the door to visually changing map objects that can change based on quests, events and other things happening in the world. This quick patch is also smoothing out some of the rough edges from the previous release. Read more below:

This is exactly what the DMS allows quest- and map creators to do. DMS can control a single object, a group of objects, or even multiple groups of walls and objects (many:many). This means that doing quest(s) or event(s) can make significant changes to the map.

DMS allows quests and events to make permanent changes to your world. A quest can start with a broken cart, damaged building or destroyed boat, and as the player is making progress, those things can visually change and become permanent . The server will remember your personal state, and once you return, the repaired cart is still repaired, the building is still standing and the boat is still ready to sail.

This same system can also be used for temporary events on the server .

One example would be a pirate raid event making a pirate boat appear in the harbour, and disappearing once the raid ended. These changes do not have to be saved permanently. The server can change the map** when an event starts and change it back when the event ends. This allows maps to change because whatever is happening.

Some thought has been given to designing DMS to keep things simple. The Map Editor allows creators to visually place and link DMS elements directly in the map, and from there a quest or event only needs one line of code to change them. The best part is that the script does not need to know where the objects are. They can be on one map, several maps, or spread across the entire world.

boat appearing during the pirate raid event in Aeven Port.

The biggest server event possible, granting double experience on almost everything (except items) and even boosted quest rewards. Get ready for the Overcharged Weekend running from 5-7 September.

Return of the Casters , 0.4.52

This patch also expands the combat system with support for Area of Effect (AOE) damage. Instead of only processing direct hits, attacks can now create impact zones around the point of contact, allowing traps, projectiles, and other remote effects to damage the same and secondary targets with a skill effect. Supporting this required further restructuring of the combat logic and damage number spawning system to better handle grouped damage events while keeping the implementation flexible for future mechanics such as larger explosions, chained effects, and other environmental interactions.

  • Map event npc sync & queued movements fixed

Rebalancing Bounties and Events: Bounty Board Reward Rebalance , 0.4.51

The Bounty Board is receiving a substantial reward increase for both Eons and experience. While the overall experience gain goes up, it is important to maintain balance during the early game. By scaling the bounty rewards from level 30 to 40, Main Quests will remain a balanced and important part of progression throughout the early levels.

These changes are intended to encourage active manual gameplay and teamwork. Since Bounty Board objectives daily rotate and share progress across entire maps, hunting alongside other players should now feel very rewarding and worthwhile.

Event Exp Improvements , 0.4.51

Event rewards have also received a boost, with experience gains now increased by up to 2x. While the overall experience rewards have been increased, the reward scaling has also been extended from level 30 to level 40 for the same balancing reasons.

The goal of this change is to keep Events important and to encourage players to continue participating in manual events together. By offering stronger rewards and extending their relevance.

This is how that looks..
