Combat

How fighting works: facing, swinging, range and recovery.

Face a monster and press Ctrl to swing. Damage is your stats and weapon against its armour; once hit, a monster turns hostile and comes for you. Bows and other ranged weapons strike from several tiles away, every weapon’s page states its class and bonuses. Hitpoints come back on their own, faster sitting down, faster still with a potion or a heal. The training guide says what to fight at every level. The game’s own help follows.

Fighting Enemies

The main control to fight something is Ctrl. Walk up to your enemy and press Ctrl while facing it to attack. Your damage will be calculated on your level, and stats. Once you hit the npc it will become hostile and will hit you back.

Ranged Weapons

Ranged weapons are weapons that can shoot at enemies from afar.

What are some of the ranged weapons?

Bows- bows can shoot from 5-7 spaces afar from enemies

Note: Ranged items are more expensive and rarer than close range items.

Hitpoints

Hitpoints define how much damage your character can take before it dies. The red meter on top of the screen shows your current hitpoints, also a temporary small bar will appear right above your cahracter after it has taken damage from an npc.

Recovery

Hitpoints will automatically recover in time. If you want to recover faster you can use a heal potion, or a heal spell to speed up the recovery. You will recover more hitpoints when you sit down on the ground as well (press F11)

The text is the game’s own help (press F1 in game). Parts of it predate the current game, so where it disagrees with the numbers above, the numbers are current.
