Buddy
The pets that follow you, where each comes from, and how buddy coins are earned.
A buddy is a pet that follows you about: company, not a combat aid. Each one comes from a specific place:

Buddy coins
The daily quest Making Buddies pays one buddy coin for two Buddy Food. Buddy Food is made at the Buddy Chef in Nostalgia from five Chewyherb and one Egg; chewyherb grows on nodes all over Nostalgia, eggs come from the market or the piggy farmer’s basement. So a coin a day costs ten herbs and two eggs. The quests Runaway Piggy and Lost Kitty each pay one coin once.
Hunter coins, which the higher buddies also take, come from the dailies Aeven Hunt (level 20, the Aeven Hunter by the well in the forest outside the stronghold) and Ocean Hunt (level 26, Atlantis): a named monster and a count. The Aeven Hunt target shuffles every 12 hours and Nibby’s every 4 (0.4.23); the one you have taken stays yours until you cancel it. Two coins a day.
The event buddies were obtainable only while their event ran.

Content Update , 0.4.50
After releasing patch 449 Patch as a technical update with last-minute priority security. Some in-progress dev content was released half-finished. Patch (450) consolidates on those unfinished areas, wrapping up all half-finished content from Patch 449, along with new content, into a single dedicated content update. This includes new training areas, characters, quests, buddies and items.
The quest begins with Yettina, located at the mountain top and also your go-to for crafting warm gear. After noticing her tame Erminu, she will ask the players to capture a few of these creatures in hopes of taming one for yourself. The success rate is around 33%, but once the Erminu chooses you, you will obtain this rare, new and cute pet.
A group of penguins has gathered before the Snowman Igloo. Players can trade Buddy Coins and Snowballs with them to receive Snobble, a new mini snowman buddy. Once yours, Snobble will follow you on adventures, adding a frosty touch to your journey. These penguins are quirky, so only the swiftest players will claim this rare buddy. Head to Pengu Village to trade yours.
The quest begins with a strange Fox Hunter wandering nearby the Aeven Hideout.. He claims is quietly hunting foxes while wearing a fox suit to blend in.. Unfortunately, there is no single fox in this part of Aeven.. Players can help the Fox Hunter by bringing him two Red Buddy foxes to hopefully help him attract real ones. After giving him the fox buddies, he thanks you for the help and rewards you with a spare fox costume and some experience.
New (gear) crafts and buddies are now available at Aeven, Snowlandia Top, Pengu Village and Snowlandia Town.
Reward: 2,500 Exp + a random Flutter Buddy pet , 0.4.44
Florabella loves her flutter buddies, but to attract more of them she needs a special flower bouquets.
Once a week, she will request 24 of a specific bouquet. Bring her the flowers, and she will try to catch a flutter buddy just for you.
This quest can only be completed once per week, with the required bouquet changing each week.
More Flower Bouquets, more buddies , 0.4.44
The added flowers crafts at Florabella serve two purposes. With more colorful options the classic 'wedding deco' aka the ancient EO ritual of covering the church floor with excessive stuff and flowers, has been upgraded with more colorful options . And as you can see, the Bouquetes can be traded with Florabella for a chance to earn a rare random flutter buddy without too much effort.
